Multiple hereditary exostoses and stroke due to vertebral artery dissection.

چکیده
UNLABELLED Vascular complications related to multiple hereditary exostoses are uncommon. We present a 39-year-old male patient with multiple exostoses in the upper and lower limbs with an associated positive familial history of such lesions. He experienced a sudden onset of left-side ataxia and hypoesthesia secondary to a left lateral medullary infarction, which was due to a stenotic-pattern vertebral artery dissection (V1-V4). This complication is very rare as a differential diagnosis in the vertebro-basilar dissection spectrum, and a nonspecific relation has been found. متن کاملOccipital Bony Abnormality and Multiple Strokes in a Pediatric Patient
This study presents a case of a 15-year-old boy who had a right vertebral artery dissection with distal embolization from repeated trauma from an occipital bony spicule. The authors hypothesize that this bony spicule was contacting the left vertebral artery during head rotation, resulting in trauma to the vessel and formation of emboli which then showered distally, causing strokes in the poster...

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE We sought to identify the use of duplex and transcranial Doppler sonography in the noninvasive diagnosis of vertebral dissection. METHODS Ten patients with a diagnosis of symptomatic vertebral artery dissection confirmed by cerebral angiography were retrospectively analyzed. RESULTS Computed tomographic scanning and magnetic resonance imaging together delineated later...
متن کاملSix-Vessel Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection and Vertebral Artery Dissection in Fibromuscular Dysplasia
Fibromuscular dysplasia is a non-inflammatory and non-atherosclerotic arteriopathy commonly affecting medium-size renal, carotid, and vertebral arteries. Involvement of the coronary artery is very rare but may cause life-threatening spontaneous dissection. Because it is rare, this disease may go unrecognized. A unique angiographic finding of non-coronary arteries can make an early diagnosis, an...
